On the days April 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 2024, May 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25, 26 2024, June 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30 2024 and July 6, 7, 13 and 14 2024, entry to the city of Venice is subject to payment of an access fee, unless the visitor falls into one of the categories that entitle them to exemption from payment. The access fee is not charged from 4.00 p.m. to 8.30 a.m.
Registration is required to obtain the relevant exemption voucher. Registration is not required for the following exceptions:
- Residents of the Municipality of Venice and people born in the Municipality of Venice are entitled to prove their exemption by presenting a document that proves their position;
- Minors under the age of 14 are entitled to prove their exemption status by presenting an identity document if their age is not clearly evident;
- Students of all levels and grades, as well as students of universities and post-graduate institutes located in the Ancient City of the Municipality of Venice or in the other minor islands of the Venetian Lagoon, are entitled to prove their exemption status by presenting the card issued by their school/university institute. In any case, students who attend institutions that do not issue cards are entitled to register for the exemption status;
- Individuals enrolled in the temporary population register of the Municipality of Venice under Article 32 of Italian Presidential Decree dated May 30 1989, No. 223, are entitled to prove their exemption status by presenting the notification letter of enrolment received from the Municipality of Venice. In any case, it is possible to proceed with the registration and the acquisition of the exemption voucher as a person who is enrolled in the temporary population register;
- People with disabilities who are European Disability Card holders and their accompanying person are entitled to exemption on presentation of the Disability Card. In any case, registration is still possible for people who do not have a European Disability Card;
- Members of the Armed Forces and the Police Forces (including the Fire Brigade), who are travelling to Venice in the performance of their official duties, are entitled to prove their exemption status by presenting their service card.
